As the Manager: Student Recruitment, you will manage all aspects of law student, judicial law clerk, and transactional fellows recruitment for the Charlotte and Washington, DC offices.  You will collaborate closely with firm leadership, local hiring partners, local recruiting committees, other stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to design and execute best-in-class student recruitment programs.  Your expertise will ensure we continue to attract top-tier candidates, while enhancing our reputation as a top tier law firm.

 

While this position is based in the Charlotte office and is also responsible for Washington, DC, the role will also encompasses responsibilities for US student recruitment initiatives across all offices. The successful candidate will collaborate with teams and stakeholders in multiple locations, ensuring consistent and effective recruitment strategies are implemented organization-wide. 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:    

  • Lead End-to-End Recruitment: Oversee the full lifecycle recruitment of entry level associates, summer associates, judicial law clerks, and transactional fellows
  • Strategic Partnership: Work directly with hiring partners, recruiting committees, practice leaders, and other stakeholders to develop and implement innovative hiring strategies aligned with business goals. This includes leading US recruitment initiatives and projects set forth by the Assistant Director of Student Recruitment
  • Campus and Candidate Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with top law schools and regional schools, career services, and student organizations. Organize and schedule on-campus events, such as panels, presentations and dinners and represent the firm at these events as well as on-campus interviews, networking events, and local industry organizations
  • Program Management: Design and manage the summer associate programs in Charlotte and Washington, DC, including onboarding, orientation, training, mentoring, work assignments, social events, evaluations, and the offer process
  • Brand Ambassador: Collaborate with marketing to enhance the firm’s employer brand through compelling promotional materials, digital campaigns, and targeted outreach
  • Data-Driven Decisions: Maintain accurate applicant tracking and reporting, leveraging technology and analytics to drive continuous improvement
  • Budget Oversight: Manage local recruitment and summer program budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources
  • Integration & Onboarding: Coordinate the pre-arrival and onboarding process for summer associates and judicial law clerks ensuring a seamless transition and successful integration into the firm
  • Staff Management: Manage student recruitment team member and other team members on projects and initiatives. Delegate, manage performance, and provide guidance

Qualifications, Experience and Personal Attributes

Education/Training/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, required

 

Professional Experience: 

  • Minimum of three years of law firm or five years of professional services firm recruiting experience, required

 

Technical Skills: 

  • Strong technical skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office products and AI tools, required
  • Deep knowledge of law firm student recruiting process and cycle, required
  • Prior experience managing summer associate/internship programs, required
  • Knowledge of applicant tracking system [LawCruit], interview and events platform [Flo Recruit] work assignments and performance evaluation [viDesktop], and HRIS [PeopleSoft] software, preferred

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with all levels of the Firm and outside vendors
  • Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment and effectively support the demanding needs of the Firm
  • Manages other team members and programs/projects effectively across offices
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines with shifting priorities
  • Must be a self-starter with a high level of initiative
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, able to anticipate needs and exercise independent judgment
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects
  • Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion
  • Exercises solid strategic thinking and problem-solving skills

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • This position will require periodic travel for business needs and coverage.
  • May require occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.

Posted Pay Range

The typical pay scale for this position is between USD $132,000.00/Yr. and USD $175,000.00/Yr., although the actual wage or salary could be lower or higher if the candidate's education, experience, skills and internal pay alignment are different from those specified.
